Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers is putting up MVP-caliber numbers during the early days of the NBA season, but the all-world point guard is much more than an athlete — he’s a multifaceted individual, and adidas is helping him tell his story with the new Dame 6. A 5/8 cut silhouette that’s lightweight but still supportive, the Dame 6 is set to debut in both “Ruthless” and “Hecklers” styles.
Kicking things off is the “Ruthless” iteration. Featuring yin-and-yang color-blocking with a stark black lateral side and a vibrant red/green neon medial side, the “Ruthless” also presents bold print on its midsole, sizable Dame logos on the tongue and a translucent outsole. “I come out to compete against people, but I don’t say a whole lot. I don’t talk trash, I just go at them every opportunity I get,” said Lillard of the design. “There’s a way to go about it in life and in basketball, being compassionate and ruthless. It’s important to have both; I was raised that way.”
After the “Ruthless” colorway, the Dame 6 will release in a “Hecklers” pack. This four-shoe collection draws its stylings from Dame’s cold-blooded nature in clutch situations — namely, knocking down big shots and casting a deathly pall over an arena full of voracious fans who want nothing more than to see him miss. Arriving in black, blue, orange and yellow, all four styles feature an all-over graphic print with zipped-mouth emojis, a “Get Dealt With” motif, and “Hecklers” on the heel, ensuring that Dame gets the last laugh when he walks off the court.
Apart from its low-slung stylings, the Dame 6 is packed full of performance tech. A full-length Lightstrike midsole — in place of the BOUNCE foam used on the Dame 5 — combines cushioning and responsiveness, while a webbed lacing system guarantees lockdown. Finally, an outsole with a new traction pattern and rounded edges ensure grip fit for one of the NBA’s finest guards.
The adidas Dame 6 will debut on adidas’ site in the “Ruthless” colorway on November 29 for $110 USD, followed by the “Hecklers” pack on January 18. Additional styles will be announced over the coming months.
Elsewhere in the world of adidas, the brand has readied its Futurecraft Loop 2, a fully recyclable running shoe.
