UPDATE (November 14, 2019): Aimé Leon Dore has offered a closer look at the apparel collection that accompanies its collaborative New Balances. Comprising a selection of comfy winter-friendly items, the selection updates a variety of classic sportswear silhouettes.
Double-zippered fleece jackets and matching track pants are complemented by a selection of color-blocked pullovers, all emblazoned with stylized co-branding. Knitwear boasts classic details — including the snug ribbing at the hems and arm openings — and bold colors that offset the understated shades utilized for a trio of hoodies, the matching sweatpants, two sweaters and graphic tees, the latter sporting thematic “Life in the Balance” verbiage. Fleece hats and scarves match the jackets, while socks utilize bi-color tones that contrast against the insulating outerwear.
Following a launch that was boisterous enough to bring in the NYPD to shut it down, expect the entire New Balance collaboration to drop November 15 on Aimé Leon Dore’s website.
UPDATE (November 12, 2019): After presenting the lookbook for its FW19 “Life In The Balance” campaign with New Balance, Aimé Leon Dore has provided release information and the best look yet at the collection’s two footwear silhouettes. Both the New Balance 990v2 and New Balance 990v5 will release at ALD’s Mulberry St flagship store in NYC on Thursday November 14 at 11am ET. They’ll then hit aimeleondore.com a day later on November 15 at 11am ET.
ORIGINAL STORY (November 11, 2019): After teasing bits and pieces over the last few weeks, Teddy Santis‘ Aimé Leon Dore officially premieres its Fall/Winter 2019 New Balance campaign, dubbed “Life In The Balance.” Consisting of two collaborative footwear silhouettes — a New Balance 990v2 and New Balance 990v5 — plus co-branded apparel, the collection combines ALD’s signature elegant sportswear styling with New Balance’s storied heritage.
Drawing upon the colors, sights and sounds of a trip from New York City to the lush forests of upstate New York State, the “Life In The Balance” range provides several co-branded fall staples to complement the comfortable footwear. Key pieces range from cozy fleece pullovers and matching pants to sturdy knit caps and even versatile scarves with special zip pockets, with a classic grey sweatsuit reinforcing the timeless motif. Of special note is a two-tone navy/black fleece zip-up jacket and a rugby-style fleece overshirt with a snap closure collar.
Of course, the collection’s center point is the two co-branded footwear silhouettes. Aimé Leon Dore’s latest take on the 990v5 utilizes rich green and stately navy blue hues to jazz up its plush nubuck and mesh upper, while the 990v2 opts for a slightly more colorful look, adding yellow and grey into the mix alongside neutral off-white tones that inform the sole unit of each sneaker. Small Aimé Leon Dore-branded tags appear beneath the ankle, a subtle reminder of the shoes’ collaborative nature.
