New 'Waves' Trailer Teases A24's Latest Family Drama
Starring Sterling K. Brown, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Alexa Demie, & more.
With the movie slated to hit theaters next month, indie powerhouse A24 has now shared a new trailer for Trey Edward Shults‘ forthcoming project Waves.
The film is “an intimate look at the journey of a suburban African-American family, led by a well-intentioned but domineering father,” played by Sterling K. Brown. Going by the trailer posted above, fans will be taken on an emotional ride which is also aided by performances from Renée Elise Goldsberry as the mother and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as the teenaged son. Euphoria‘s Alexa Demie also stars. Along with the film’s stellar cinematography, the movie is also backed by a soundtrack composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and will also be paired with “iconic contemporary songs.”
The official synopsis reads:
“Set against the vibrant landscape of South Florida, and featuring an astonishing ensemble of award-winning actors and breakouts alike, Waves traces the epic emotional journey of a suburban African-American family — led by a well-intentioned but domineering father — as they navigate love, forgiveness and coming together in the aftermath of a loss. From acclaimed director Trey Edward Shults, Waves is a heartrending story about the universal capacity for compassion and growth even in the darkest of times.”
Waves marks Shults’ third project to be backed by A24. His previous two works included his first feature film Krisha and 2017’s horror/triller It Comes At Night. Waves gets a limited release on November 15.
