Kanye West Finally Joins James Corden for 'Airpool Karaoke'
Following multiple cancellations.
After multiple no shows, multi-hyphenate Kanye West finally joined James Corden for a special rendition of the latter’s Carpool Karaoke segment dubbed Airpool Karaoke.
The skit kicks off with Corden desperate to find his way back to Los Angeles after his flight is cancelled. He then makes a phone call to a yet unknown person asking if he can catch a flight back with them. It is soon revealed to be West on the other end of the line, who allows The Late Late Show host to join his flight back to LA with his Sunday Service choir.
During the interview, West discusses his mental heath battles, his decision to become increasingly spiritual, his marriage with Kim Kardashian, what lyric he knew would make him famous, and his four children — North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm. West also shared he plans to have more children with Kim, hoping to bring the total up to seven.
“When I went to the hospital a few years ago, I wrote ‘start a church in Calabasas’,” Kanye explained to Corden. “It was something I had a feeling I needed to do that God put on my heart. Now, he keeps on taking me to new levels and taking us to new levels that we didn’t imagine before.” West continued, “God’s always had a plan for me and he wanted to use me, but I think he wanted me to suffer more and people to see my suffering and see my pain and put stigmas on me and have me go through all the human experiences. So now, when I talk about how Jesus saved me, more people can relate to that experience. If it was just, ‘we grew up with this guy and he’s a superstar’, it’s less compelling than this guy who had a mental breakdown and this guy who was in debt.”
The duo also sing along to “Jesus Walks” and various other West hits. Check it all out above. Corden previously revealed West had cancelled three times before making an appearance during Monday night’s episode.
On the other-hand, following multiple delays West finally dropped his highly-anticipated album Jesus Is King over the weekend.
