Vans Taps Adventure Brand VSSL for "Mountain," "Skate" and "Surf" Sneaker Sets
Only 100 pieces ever made.
Canadian adventure label VSSL joins forces with Vans for a special set of sneakers and kits ideal for traveling through different environs. Utilizing VSSL’s special Maglite-inspired designs, the highly-limited shoes are accompanied by a complementary set of essentials ideal for traveling rough terrain or hitting the beaches.
The Vans Sk8-Hi Mountain Edition (MTE) “Mountain” receives two different makeovers, offered with richly textured brown and black nubuck uppers, accented by blue leather detailing and tan vamps with patterned laces. Special features, like warmth-retaining lining, moisture-wicking technology and an extra-grippy lug waffle outsole make it ideal for adventures. Accompanying the mid-top sneaker is a custom VSSL “Camp Supplies” kit, which tucks over 70 important supplies into a mil-spec anodized aluminum case that weighs just about one pound, topped off with an ultra-bright LED light.
Elsewhere, the Vans Old Skool VLT LX and Era VLT LX boast Italian leather and suede uppers and patterns that correspond to an activity that inspired their creation; the Old Skool “Skate” features a muted checkerboard pattern, while the Era “Surf” sports contrasting black palm trees against its mustard-toned canvas panel. Each model comes with corresponding waterproof VSSL kits that include first aid essentials tucked inside compact containers.
Get on the waiting list for the ultra-limited Vans collaboration — only 100 of each kit will be available — at VSSL’s website and look for it at select retailers like 43 Einhalb. The pack is set to arrive November 1.
