Pop Smoke & Lil Tjay Reconnect for Official "War" Music Video
The rising New York rappers aren’t holding back.
Rising New York hip-hop titans Pop Smoke and Lil Tjay brought a refreshing take to the genre earlier this month when they released a brand new banger entitled “Pop Smoke.” Now the two upstarts have collided for the official music video for the collaboration, teaming up with director JLShotThat for the black & white visual.
The video sees the two artists rapping out their brawling verses in a massive mansion, cut between scenes of street bikes, riotous live performances, and more. Lightly edited, the visual’s only hint of color are the various flame details that mark transitions throughout. If listeners weren’t familiar with Pop Smoke before “War,” many could readily assume that he is a UK-based drill rapper; the production’s hard-slinging, grime-tinged beat diversifies from much of New York’s militant instrumentals, allowing for both Smoke and Tjay to relish in their varied approaches to the genre.
