Earlier this week, Packer Shoes and adidas Consortium came together for a collaborative take on the ZX 9000, taking inspirational cues from New Jersey’s state flower to produce a “Meadow Violet” colorway. Now, the two brands are linking up once more for another striking new collaboration. For their second joint offering of October, Packer and adidas Consortium are introducing a “Mega Violet” rework of the ZX Torsion.
Notably, the ZX Torsion “Mega Violet” continues the narrative that Packer and adidas Consortium started with their previous “Meadow Violet” iteration of the ZX 9000. While the latter sneaker highlighted the New Jersey state flower’s resilience in the midst of increasing environmental stress, this latest collaboration examines the “extremes of what can happen when those conditions” finally go beyond the limits of what the natural world can handle.
“The Packer x adidas Consortium ZX Torsion ‘Mega Violet’ tells the story of the meadow violet’s transformation from a proud symbol of nature’s beauty to a corrupted byproduct of its environment,” reads an official statement from Packer. “While the gradient purple stripes remain the same from the first shoe to the second, the color palette surrounding them becomes polluted with dark, muddy tones that effectively mutate its identity from something pure and natural to something twisted and aggressive.”
For the construction of the ZX Torsion “Mega Violet,” its designers utilized a luxurious blend of high-end pigskin, black nubuck, suede and a richly-toned mesh underlay; “translucent outsole panels,” round out the presentation.
