Hublot Continues to Innovate With the Big Bang MP-11 SAXEM

Once again marking its spot at the forefront of timepiece innovation, Hublot recently crafted a new iteration of its Big Bang MP-11 made of SAXEM (Sapphire Aluminium oXide and rare Earth Mineral) a material never before used in watchmaking.
In order to create the emerald-like material, Hublot mixed aluminum oxide (the basic component of sapphire) with rare-earth elements like thulium, holmium and chromium. SAXEM is a unique material features an absence of tension and is harder than emerald making it superior for shaping into a watch case.
Limited to 20 units and water-resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, the Hublot Big Bang MP-11 SAXEM (ref. 911.JG.0129.RX) features a 45mm contrasted by six H-shaped polished and microblasted black titanium screws on the bezel and black titanium crown with rubber inserts. Housed inside the case is a hand-wound skeleton HUB9011 calibre movement with a seven-barrel power reserve of two weeks paired with an “endless screw”-type helical gear wheel to transmit energy between the horizontal axis of the barrels and the vertical train moving the hours and minutes display. Comprised of 270 components, the watch is completed by green luminescent plated hands and indexes, anti-reflective sapphire glass and black structured rubber strap with a black ceramic and black-plated titanium deployant clasp.
