Back in August, H.E.R. linked up with DRAM for a collaborative single “The Lay Down,”. Now, the talented young songstress reconnects with YG for a music video in support of their recent joint single “Slide.” Specifically, the California-reared pairing are placing the spotlight on H.E.R.’s hometown of Vallejo, California, using their new visual as an opportunity to celebrate the Vallejo and northern California culture; the Grand Lake Theater, the West Oakland Station and Concord’s Lights on Festival are just some of the settings for H.E.R.’s Mike Ho-directed “Slide” clip.
“Proud to represent my roots being from the Bay Area!” H.E.R. shared with Complex. “I’ve always wanted to ghost ride the whip and it’s the perfect song to get hyphy! Shout out to the best side and YG!”
It’s therapeutic. It’s not like it’s labor; I don’t feel emotionally exhausted when I create. It does the opposite for me,” H.E.R told DJ Booth during 2018 exchange. “I create because I love it and it’s therapy for me. I don’t think I ever get emotionally exhausted unless I’m working and moving a lot. Other than that, sometimes you gotta feel whatever it is you’re feeling and then create it later.”

Back in July, H.E.R. also shared a visual for another high-profile single, “21.”
