Peter Saville and Nick Knight will also participate in the installation curated by Sami Janjer and Stavros Karelis.

After working with Max Lamb last season, Virgil Abloh is set to return to the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF) for another project this season. The project is organized by Sami Janjer and MACHINE-A‘s Stavros Karelis, who once again curates the fair’s CIFF RAVEN Special Projects area.
The installation is titled “Enlightenment” and will feature unique artworks from some of fashion’s finest, with the works all inspired by light in order to raise awareness for the Little Sun Foundation, an organization aiming to bring solar power to 1.1 billion people around the world. For the project, Abloh will release a special product while Naomi Campbell is set to collaborate with Peter Saville on 10 Woolrich blankets painted with her favorite inspirational quotes and Nick Knight will debut a new short film.
Speaking about the project, Karelis told Business of Fashion that “our actions have to become a platform to raise awareness and do something good, so we reached out to close collaborators like Virgil and Nick, who all came up with brilliant ideas of how they can work with the concept and meaning of light.” Abloh echoed this sentiment, explaining why he was so keen to take part: “Using creativity to spread light on things that better humanity is a part of my ethos. Joining this team on the Enlightenment project was a great fit for me.”
Co-curator Sami Janjer also shared his thoughts on the installation: “This project is all about highlighting existing things around us that if you take time to discover or challenge yourself to explore you’d probably get inspired by. I am lucky enough to have amazing friends around me that share similar values and no matter what our respective disciplines are we all share the same common ground of doing whatever is possible for the betterment of people. That can be as simple as enlightening a curious mind with a thought provoking quote or lighting the path of another person with things some people take for granted. This is why I believe the name “Enlightenment” really sums up the body of work behind this showcase.”
The “Enlightenment” installation will run from August 8 until August 10, while the “LET THERE BE LIGHT” poster designed by Virgil Abloh is available from the Little Sun web store. All proceeds will go towards will go towards bringing light to countries in Africa.
