'Crazy Rich Asians' Keeps the No. 1 Box Office Spot for a Second Week
Continuing its world domination.

Crazy Rich Asians continues to dominate box offices, seeing its second week in a row at the top spot. Jon M. Chu’s rom-com, based off Kevin Kwan’s novel of the same name, earned itself another $25 million USD over the weekend taking its two week total up to $78.8 million USD thus far.
The film centers around Rachel, played by Fresh off the Boat‘s Constance Wu, as she heads to Singapore to meet her boyfriend’s family who turn out to be extremely wealthy. Crazy Rich Asians has found great success so far due to its representation of Asian actors and filmmakers, something that has been greatly missing in the Hollywood scene. Crazy Rich Asians beat out Melissa McCarthy’s The Happytime Murders, Jason Statham’s The Meg, Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible — Fallout, Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman, and Disney’s Christopher Robin.
It has already been confirmed that Chu and Warner Bros. are working on a sequel based on Kwan’s followup novel in the trilogy, China Rich Girlfriend. Keep it locked here for more details.
