Nike‘s 2018 ON AIR design contest began in March via ON AIR design workshops in six different cities known for being sneaker culture epicenters — New York City, Paris, London, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai. After eighteen finalists were selected from thousands of entries, Nike members voted for the winning designs for each city, resulting in six winning models that were announced on May 14.
Taking concept to creation, all six 2018 ON AIR winning models were recently presented as physical samples at Nike’s Portland event, which also saw 2017 ON AIR Vote winner Sean Wotherspoon in attendance. The new designs take the form of the Nike Air Max 1, Air Max 97, Air Max 98 and Air VaporMax Plus silhouette.
