Continuing to flesh out the identity of CALVIN KLEIN 205W39NYC, Chief Creative Officer Raf Simons recently unveiled the transitional collection he put together for Pre-Spring 2019. Drawing from his established design sensibilities, the menswear and womenswear range explores the uniforms of American youth, more specifically the codes of college sororities and fraternities.
A choice partnership with the University of California, Berkeley and Yale University provide the logos and emblems, which are decontextualized and used throughout the collection. Collective experiences of sporting events and other gatherings of youth are touched upon through reimagined garments done in a vivid color palette inspired by Technicolor film and pop art. Dominated by collegiate merchandise, knits, and suiting, overall, the Pre-Spring 2019 collection exists between both fitted and relaxed looks in a very uniform way. The element of sports is displayed by an array of footwear and carry options designed to express ball-style sports such as bowling, baseball, basketball and football.
