A couple years ago, iLoveMakonnen and Vampire Weekend‘s Ezra Koenig joined Despot for a very solid remix of Makonnen’s “Down 4 So Long.” Since then, Makonnen has linked up with Ezra Koenig several times, mostly as a guest on the Vampire Weekend artist’s Beats 1 program. Now, it looks like the unlikely pair of collaborators have some more new music for us. Cooked up for a new VICELAND vignette, iLoveMakonnen and Ezra Koenig’s latest piece together is an impromptu, off-the-top creation aided by Despot, the Kid Mero and Desus Nice. Following that act, iLoveMakonnen also decided to create another all-new, original record on-the-spot: “It Ain’t Easy Being The Man.” You can check out the entire VICELAND segment above and Makonnen’s post-show creation below.
