Hana Vu Blends "Social Commentary" & Self-Reflection On "Shallow"
Using music to explore an “egoistical alter-ego.”

Seventeen-year-old singer-songwriter Hana Vu‘s reach is about to expand far outside of her current bedroom studio. Capitalizing on her current momentum, the Los Angeles-based artist serves up “Shallow,” the latest single in support of her forthcoming How Many Times Have You Driven By EP. In an emailed statement to The FADER, Vu calls the effort “part social commentary, part self analysis.”
“Our superficial perceptions allow us to subconsciously categorize ourselves among or above others,” Vu explains to the aforementioned outlet. “In this song I explore a sort of egotistical alter-ego that I imagine everyone experiences, and reveal the true fear behind it.” She’s definitely wise beyond her years.
