Yohji Yamamoto Ground Y Taps Fred Perry for Gothic Prepwear Capsule
A progressive take on the British brand’s clean-cut staples.
Yohji Yamamoto‘s youthful Ground Y made waves with its recent Ghost in the Shell collaboration, and continues the collaborative streak by joining Fred Perry for a joint release. The capsule range encompasses a track suit, tote bag, sneaker and, of course, Fred Perry’s classic polo shirt, all executed in Yamamoto’s preferred color: black. Co-branding appears on key pieces, like a graphic tee that offers a “No Smoking” decal and Yohji branding. The collection is themed around the concept of deconstruction, embodied by various items featuring layered panels, giving new shape to classic pieces.
Look for the range to arrive at select Ground Y dealers and Fred Perry’s Japanese outposts on June 1, before dropping across Japan on June 8. Keep an eye out for the Ground Y web store, poised to launch in July.
Most recently, Yamamoto’s Y-3 imprint introduced its Bashyo sneaker in an all-black colorway.
