UPDATE: Lando Isn’t Getting His Own ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff Film
Confirmed by Lucasfilm.

UPDATE: According to sites like Huffpost and i09, it looks like the Lando spinoff isn’t happening. At least, not just yet. It turns out that film magazine Premiere misquoted Lucasfilm film rep, Kathleen Kennedy, when asked about the possibility. Premiere wrote that Kennedy said: “We think that the next spin-off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian. Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca, but Lando will be next.”
Premiere later adjusted its article and added the note: “Lucasfilm informs us that there would have been a misunderstanding between our journalist and Kathleen Kennedy.” Her comment should have stated, “We would love to tell a story about Lando Calrissian one day, but it’s not relevant,” Premiere wrote.
There’s already a lot of buzz surrounding Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian role before the much-anticipated premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story next week. The excitement continues with news of Lando getting his own spinoff as revealed by Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy. “We think that the next spinoff will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian,” said Kennedy in an interview with Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this past Tuesday. “Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca, but Lando will be next.”
This past weekend during a Solo press event, Glover revealed that he’s been pumped to play the role ever since he was a child. When I heard they were making these, I told my agent, ‘if they’re making anything with Lando in it, I have to be Lando,’” he said. “And he was like, ‘I hear you; I don’t like your odds.’ And that was exactly what I needed to hear. I really did audition like it was the only role I wanted in the world because it really was. I’m just really happy to be part of this. My dad imprinted me with this kind of Star Wars longing, because it does feel like the Bible to me in a lot of ways.”
