WIRED joins Daryl Sawchuk, Visual Effects Supervisor for Method Studios and Animation Supervisor for Black Panther, to break down the film’s captivating visuals. Sawchuk literally peels the layers off of select scenes, showcasing how CGI artists create digital actors, skyboxes, landscapes and set pieces to accompany the live-action footage. The video shows how Michael B. Jordan and Chadwick Boseman‘s suits were digitally painted onto their bodies, with some scenes featuring entirely animated helmets and others showcasing a seamless transition between filmed and digital imagery.
