DRAMA Wants to You to Use Their New 'Lies After Love' EP to Get Over Breakups
Stream exclusively through HYPEBEAST.

Chicago-based music duo Na’el Shehade and Via Rosa are on a quest to soundtrack all your breakups. Today, after putting the music community on notice with the release of their impressive R&B/Dance-infused number, “Majid,” DRAMA are now debuting their newest EP with HYPEBEAST titled Lies After Love. In speaking with Shehade and Rosa about the release, the duo explain the project is about the “Lies that people tell themselves to get over heartbreak,” while adding “we both have a really hard time expressing ourselves one-on-one. So this project was our way to openly express our own thoughts and feelings about heartbreak.”
Meanwhile, the EP is a avant-garde concoction of R&B and dance with hints Sade-inspired cadences and melodics – something you’ll want to keep on repeat to help you openly express your “thoughts and feelings about heartbreak” as DRAMA puts it. In addition to the release, we spoke briefly to DRAMA who will also be embarking on mini-tour summer. Tickets are available now through their website, while all cities and dates below along with the Q&A.
How would you describe your sound?
Our sound is a combination/fusion of both of our personalities and musical backgrounds. We’re both very different in that we come from very diverse backgrounds. We’re also very similar in that we’re both positive and optimistic yet emotionally dramatic people (no pun intended!).
What was the concept behind the project?
The concept behind Lies After Love is to highlight the affirmations and lies that people tell themselves to get over heartbreak. We both have a really hard time expressing ourselves one-on-one. So this project was our way to openly express our own thoughts and feelings about heartbreak.
Any collaborations in the pipeline?
Nothing planned. So far it’s just been the two of us in the studio. We’d love to one day collaborate with a producer like Jon Brion. He produced Fiona Apple’s “When the Pawn…” which is one of our favorite records to listen to.
Final words?
No matter what happens, we love you.
