The Vans "Japan Fabrics Collection" Recreates Textures With High-Tech Digital Prints
Leaf, marble and paper motifs appear on the shoes.

Vans kicked off its “Japan Fabrics Collection” in February with a range of indigo-dyed skate shoes. The second iteration of the Japan Fabrics Collection features a special treatment called “MONALISA©.” Created by Japan’s Komatsu Seiren Co., the technology is able to blend nearly 17 million colors into realistic reinterpretations of patterns, artwork and textures. For this release, the company recreated leaf, marble and paper detailing on the upper of the Vans Old Skool, Era and Slip-On, respectively. Aside from the textural treatment, the shoes offer normal vulcanized waffle soles, tonal laces and Vans branding.
The latest Vans Japan Fabrics Collection drop arrives on April 16 via ABC Mart’s website and other Japanese sneaker retailers. Recently, Vans teased a “Factory Floor” patchwork Old Skool.
