Back in March, COMME des GARÇONS debuted a stacked Nike Cortez model on its Fall/Winter 2018 runway, signaling what appears to be a revival of the platform shoe — a logical next step to the chunky sneaker trend that’s been dominating the footwear scene. It didn’t take much time for Nike to take it upon themselves to debut their own platform sneaker, this time using the Vandal model.

The Nike Vandal Surprise is a women’s model that features a leather and textile upper, a forefoot strap, augmented Swoosh and embroidered branding, all of which sits atop a triple-stacked striped midsole. The new model debuts in two colorways: silver/red/blue and black/gold/white.

Both of these Nike Vandal Surprise colorways will release on May 5 at Nike’s online store and select retailers worldwide. Let us know your thoughts on this silhouette in the comments below and for more distinctive sneakers, check out the new Nike ACG Dog Mountain model.
