SpaceX Plans on Testing Mars Rocket System in 2019
The BFR will be used in the first half of the year.

During Elon Musk’s SXSW talk, he spoke about a number of topics — including his admiration for Kanye West — and he also revealed more about SpaceX’s BFR rocket system. He gave a timeline of when they will be launching, stating that he planned on having them launch to Mars by the first half of 2019.
Musk has traditionally been known for being overambitious when it comes to the launch of his projects. The predecessor to BFR was the Falcon Heavy, which launched earlier this year, 5 years after Musk originally stated it would be ready. There is no firm launch date for the BFR rocket system but Musk clearly has some very ambitious plans for the Mars visits.
Elon Musk recently teamed up with Westworld’s creator to make a trailer for Falcon Heavy & Starman.
