Polish artist Filip Pagowski joined forces with Nike to reinterpret all 30 NBA team logos for a special T-shirt capsule. Pagowski is renowned for creating the ubiquitous heart logo for COMME des GARÇONS. For this partnership, Pagowski reworked team names, cities as well as mascots in his whimsical illustration style. “These three aspects allowed the artist space to dive into the history of a given franchise and the facts or associated imagery related to the source of a nickname,” said Nike in a statement.
Pagowski’s designs will appear on a selection of T-shirts starting April 19 exclusively through Nike Connected NBA jerseys. A second release will follow on April 21 via the Nike App. For more art illustrations, check out Keiichi Tanaami and Oliver Payne’s “Perfect Cherry Blossom” exhibit in Japan.
