Def Jam Says Rumored Kanye West Album Is a Hoax

After what appeared to be sure signs of an album release, Kanye West‘s supposed project is officially being called a hoax. According to Def Jam, the record label issued a statement this morning to MTV stating “this is a hoax and has nothing to do with Kanye’s team.” This comes, of course, after a mysterious package made its way into MTV offices with some cryptic contents that included a VHS tape with a label reading “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and a white card with Kanye’s name on it along with the numbers “772233688.” Those numbers would eventually lead to a mysterious site that didn’t have much except a static video and text that read “KANYE WEST,” “NASA,” “PROJECT 10,” and “MARCH 20,” leading many to believe his album was releasing next week. Needless to say, despite Def Jam shutting down all the rumors, you just never know.
