Already officially passing $1 billion USD in global box office sales, Black Panther recently became North America’s highest-grossing superhero movie.
Pulling in $624 million USD on the continent, the Ryan Coogler-directed film took the top spot from 2012’s The Avengers which grossed $623.4 million USD. The surpassing cements Black Panther‘s place in modern culture as the film about the Wakandan hero continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Black Panther is now the third highest-grossing superhero film internationally, behind Marvel Studios‘ first two Avengers films and is one of seven movies to make more than $600 million USD domestically.
