Choosing to pull away from his signature avant-garde aesthetic, designer Siki Im looked to find a balance between modernity and tradition.

Drawing from his days as a student at Oxford, the German designer traded in his usual dark tones for shades of brown and textured tweed. Shooting for a reimagined menswear look, Im focused on striking cuts and bold silhouettes based on men’s staples.

Collarless blazers and pintucked chinos progressed the traditional concepts behind suiting. While vegan leather and vegan fur utilized throughout the Fall 2018 collection questioned the relevance of the currently contested heritage textiles used in fashion. Additionally, sportswear-inspired looks laced throughout Im’s range showed the prevalence of athleisure and the designer’s dabbling in the popular trend.

Check out all the looks from Siki Im’s Fall 2018 show above and stay tuned to all our coverage from New York Fashion Week: Men’s.
