“YOU CAN’T TEACH HEART.”

Inspired by the sturdiness of the Gi and the functionality of workwear, Carhartt WIP and Hyperfly have joined forces on a collaborative Jiu-Jitsu uniform, complete with a tote bag. The Gi has been upgraded with Carhartt’s tough duck canvas and collaborative branding, transforming the martial arts uniform into viable wardrobe accents.

Hyperfly’s martial arts gear is part of its wide array of hard-wearing sportswear and athletic clothing, with goods available for everyone from professionals to part-time athletes. Thanks to crowd-favorite films like Black Panther and John Wick, societal awareness of jiu-jitsu is on the rise, making this collaborative Gi set well-timed. Carhartt WIP retains the sturdy reinforced seams and “YOU CAN’T TEACH HEART” slogan of the original kimono top, but elevates it with co-branded patches, a Carhartt-inflected American flag on the shoulder and “Carhartt WIP Squad” branding on the seams. Similarly branded pants complement the shirt, and the matching tote is wide enough to store the entire set.

The reworked uniform and tote will be available in black, navy and Hamilton Brown colorways and will retail for $250 USD. Check out Hyperfly and Carhartt WIP’s websites for more information, and scope some of the cities receiving the drop below. Meanwhile, Carhartt WIP is heading to Japan to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its iconic chore coat.
