Bunaco Introduces a Nendo-Designed Wireless & Transparent Speaker
Using beechwood to create a “uniquely clear and soft tone.”
Japanese design studio Nendo, alongside Aomori-based brand Bunaco, have released a wireless transparent speaker that utilizes a strip of coiled beechwood to function. The tail of the thin strip coils around a small speaker that is then enclosed within an acrylic cylinder to highlight the design.
“The clear base makes it possible to see the unfinished edge that is left curling from the bottom, enabling users to intuitively understand the speaker’s structure as well as the craftsmanship invested in its production,” said Nendo. The beechwood is used to exploit its sound-absorbing qualities to produce a “uniquely clear and soft tone.”
The minimalist design and traditional technique used to create this product is a process Nendo usually strives for.
Recently, Nendo teamed with Chinese brand Zens for a minimalist homeware capsule.
