ALYX Customizes Mackintosh's Outerwear With Experimental Dyes

After first linking up for Resort 2017, ALYX rejoins Mackintosh for Spring/Summer 2018, issuing another collection of remastered coats and accessories. Bespoke dye treatments, handmade quality and high-end detailing informs the range.

Made by hand in Mackintosh’s British factories, options are available for both men and women, with unisex accessories and coats crafted in sizes for both genders. The iconic Mackintosh rubberized fabric appears throughout the collection, occasionally boasting experimental treatments — the first of their kind in the brand’s storied history. Tonal taped seams ensure maximum weather resistance and are testament to the brand’s eye for detail, along with custom shank buttons embossed with ALYX branding. Dry bags and mini rollercoaster belts offer the same rubberized fabrics and accompany the range with matching colors of black, navy, grey and tan. ALYX designer Matthew Williams expressed pride in Mackintosh’s quality, stating, “Every jacket is handmade, from the glue being spread on the seams to the pattern pieces being cut and sewn; no other jacket is constructed this way.”

Look for the range on Mackintosh and ALYX’s websites, with the items retailing from $445 to $2,785 USD. Expect other stockists to receive the goods February 20.
