Pusha T Praises Puff Daddy as a Producer
“My records wouldn’t have happened without Puff in the studio with me.”

In case you haven’t noticed, Diddy aka Puff Daddy was the executive producer on Pusha T‘s latest album, Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude. The Clipse rapper spoke with NPR‘s “Microphone Check” about Puffy’s prowess as a producer, saying that the Bad Boy honcho surprised him the most out of the album contributors including Q-Tip, Boi-1da, Kanye West, J. Cole and more. He shares:
“Truthfully, I been in the game since ‘97. Getting on, losing deals, all this stuff. You would always hear these rumors of, ‘Puff don’t produce for real. He ain’t the producer for real.’ My records wouldn’t have happened without Puff in the studio with me. The way I want to hear my records weren’t going to be what they were without him in the studio with me. I ain’t had nobody push me like him.”
In another interview with Sway Calloway, Pusha reiterated his thoughts on Diddy by calling him “the toughest critic in life.”
“I mean, it’s hard to impress him. This my first time working with him. So he give you that, ‘Yeah it’s alright I guess, playboy.’ And I’m like rapping my heart out.”
