With Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse on the way, the iconic comic’s essence is reworked into the AJI OG “Chicago” iteration. This referential offer pays homage to Michael Jordan’s historic rookie year in 1985. Aesthetics for the model are sourced from the outfit Jordan wore while giving his acceptance speech for his Rookie of the Year award. Leather and suede encompass the structure’s upper in a palette that predominately consists of brown with black and white accents. Adding an extra layer of detail, the inside wing flaps are printed with the text, “This award is nice, but I just feel it is very important for each individual to go out and contribute to his team.” -MJ” and the other with, “1984-85, R.O.Y., 2313 points and 28.2 ppg.”

What can be witnessed as a commentary on the culture’s reselling community, Nike released two exclusive iterations of the “NOT FOR RESALE” sneakers. Pictured above, the silhouettes came available in yellow and red and were complemented by the inclusion of black and white accents. A heavy attention to text can be witnessed, as Jordan brand printed over a soft tumbled leather:”NOT FOR RESALE” on its midsole, in addition to “NO PHOTOS” embroidered on the heels, “WEAR ME” on the tongues, “PLEASE CREASE” on its toeboxes and ”NO L’S” on the insoles.

At first glance, the duo appears to be a Frankenstein-esque mashup; however, Chris Gibbs, for this collaborative effort, wanted to a take a design approach that would elicit an emotional response. Allusions to Michael Jordan’s rookie year — alongside incorporating aesthetics referencing the long history AJ1 iterations — appear throughout. A worn-in look has been fostered, as the sneakers feature: nubuck Swoosh, thicker leather, yellowed midsole, exposed foam and curled edges. Additional accents from the graphics printed on insole and tissue paper and the larger-than-normal “WINGS” logo pays tribute to the shoe’s legacy.
Release Date: December 12
Lowest Price: $235 USD
A return of the Air Jordan 3 “Mocha” marks 17 years since its inaugural release within the sneaker community. Overshadowed by the “Black Cement,” the colorway found a cult following amongst Jordan fans. Comprising a materialization of white tumbled leather across the upper, alongside the typical Jumpman branding, brown makes its way on to the sole and elephant print detailing on its heel and toe.
