Ariana Grande‘s newly-released “thank u, next” music video has just broken a YouTube record. The clip, inspired by some of the best female-led movies such as Mean Girls, Bring It On, and Legally Blonde, has taken the honors of being YouTube’s most-viewed video within the first 24 hours of its premiere.
Having dropped at 12 p.m. PST/3 p.m. EST Friday, within 24 hours Grande managed to pull in 50.2 million views, surpassing K-pop supergroup BTS’s “Idol” music video and its 45.9 million views. And to top it all off, 829,000 viewers were watching simultaneously at its peak and over 516,000 chat messages were sent during the video’s debut, causing a temporary delay in comments being posted.
