Providing a platform to cop variety of sneakers, StockX is giving its users an opportunity to pick up their own pair of the Air Jordan 1 “Sports Illustrated.”
Just as with the “Rookie of the Year” iteration, the latest AJ1 drop seeks to pay homage to another iconic moment within Michael Jordan’s career, his first Sports Illustrated magazine cover. Captured floating in the air to dunk on a trio of Milwaukee Bucks players, the footwear goes a step beyond being just an allusion to that instance. Equipped with a tumbled leather upper, the palette used — consisting of tonal greens alongside white red and black — from the sole to the embroidered Nike Check lifts the colors from pages right on to the silhouette. Synonymous branding appears, but an extra layer of detail is added inside the wing flaps which are printed with the text, ” A STAR” and the other, “IS BORN Dec 10, 1984.”
