Ken Has Been Confirmed for 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate'
Alongside the announcement of Incineroar and a new Adventure Mode.
Rumored to be in the game for months, it was finally confirmed on today’s Nintendo Direct that Ken will join the already stacked roster of the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Alongside a slew of newly introduced online functionalities and a Spirits Mode that allows players to equip support spirits that power up or add abilities to their characters, the event showed off Ryu’s echo fighter and longtime rival Ken, based on his sprite and mechanics from Super Street Fighter II.
Here, Ken has some new moves like his focus attack from Street Fighter IV and a flashy version of the Shinryuken from the Vs. series. Like usual, his standard Hadouken looks different than Ryu’s and his Shoryuken launches at an angle with flames attached. He also moves at a slightly faster pace than Ryu but packs two Final Smashes just like him.
Ken was announced alongside the final evolution of starter Pokémon Litten, Incineroar, who also utilizes fire alongside wrestling moves. Adventure Mode was also showcased as “World of Light,” with fully voiced cutscenes that’ll see you playing as Kirby to save the spirits of the Smash Bros. roster.
