Post Malone Addresses His Controversial Comments in New Video

“I love hip-hop, I make hip-hop.”

Post Malone recently made some comments in a recent interview that some viewed as dismissive in regards to hip-hop music. “If you’re looking for lyrics, if you’re looking to cry, if you’re looking to think about life, don’t listen to hip-hop,” he stated, continuing to say “whenever I want to sit down and have a nice cry, I’ll listen to some Bob Dylan.”

On Thanksgiving morning, Post Malone dropped a video statement on Twitter addressing his comments, saying they were made under the influence of alcohol. He also insists he was touching on his own personal tastes in his statements. He also dismissed accusations of cultural appropriation — a topic that’s followed him his entire career, only fueled more by his recent comments.

“A lot of people [are] saying I don’t appreciate hip-hop or I’m taking advantage of hip-hop. My last hip-hop album was fuckin’ hip-hop, my next hip-hop album is fuckin’ hip-hop. I love hip-hop, I make hip-hop. I wanna take this genre and stretch it so far that people who may not listen to it, listen to it.”

Check the video below and share your thoughts in the comments. Post Malone’s new album Beerbongs and Bentleys drops December 1.
