Damon Lindelof‘s upcoming Watchmen series for HBO will take a decidedly different approach to the source material while maintaining the same spirit of the 1986 graphic novel. Our first look at the upcoming series showcases a policeman wearing a yellow mask, a mask never seen in the series.
Yellow is a color utilized heavily in the comic book, as it matches the franchise’s iconic smiley face logo. Besides its yellow color, the mask itself matches something main character Rorschach wears, except the mask itself doesn’t shift in design like his.
