Feng Chen Wang's Converse Collab Accompanies New Fractional SS19 Capsule
Kicking off Shanghai Fashion Week.

Kicking off Shanghai Fashion Week, Chinese designer Feng Chen Wang revealed a new Converse collaboration at her new Spring/Summer 2019 capsule presentation.
Continuing the fractional theme that served as the focus of her SS19 “MY HALF” range, Wang reappropriated the sportswear brand’s apparel to create interesting displays of asymmetry and style code mixing. Accessories came in the form of 3D “F” waist bags that tied bottoms and tops together seamlessly, as well as dual-tone branded statement socks. The dichotomy of a personal life and work balance, presented by the mashup garments, was reiterated by the Chuck Taylor All-Star collaboration that rounded up looks.
Done in five distinct colorways, the collaborative footwear model features maximalist reconstruction defined by redundant layering. The low-top Chucks are reworked into a sandal form with two halves of the model tacked on to a base, along with a functional strap added to the traditional lacing system for added comfort and security. The high-top model sports added sole foxing and adapted canvas panels cut in irregular shapes to reveal the base under.
Feng Chen Wang’s footwear collaboration will be fully rolled out with a retrospective exhibition at SHFW dubbed “This Is My Journey Through Life,” which serves as the start of Converse’s new “All The Stories Are True” campaign.
