Vivo Beats Apple & Samsung to the Punch, Opens Pre-Orders for X20 Plus UD
The first ever in-display fingerprint sensor phone is arriving soon.
Smartphone company Vivo is gearing up to produce and ship its X20 Plus UD, the world’s first smartphone with an in-screen fingerprint scanner.
After securing the tech from Qualcomm and working with Synaptics, Vivo fastlaned its smartphone designs and yielded the new X20 Plus UD, which boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 635 processor. Industry insiders have discussed Apple and Samsung‘s attempts to integrate fingerprint sensor technology into their products for years, but few expected upstart Chinese brand Vivo to ship a completed product before the smartphone giants.
Pre-orders for the phone go live in China today, with no international releases or prices announced yet. Meanwhile, RED’s Hydrogen One smartphone is set to ship in America this summer.
