Panasonic-owned Technics officially announced its return back in 2014, ultimately taking to IFA in Berlin this past September to show off a sleek prototype of its long-awaited successor to the SL-1200. Now we finally have our first look at the production model. Unveiled at CES in Las Vegas, the brand new SL-1200GAE represents an evolution of sorts for the rightfully revered direct-drive turntable. Celebrating both the 50th anniversary of Technics and the imprint’s most iconic design, the new look is billed as an attempt “to redefine the direct-drive turntable reference” and features details like a lightweight magnesium tonearm, brass-milled and gold-plated terminals, an iron core-free direct-drive motor to eliminate cogging, twin-rotor construction, and a four-layer cabinet.

Full specs and design details for the SL-1200GAE can be found below while Technics is promising a Summer 2016 release for the turntable.
