On Rihanna‘s new album Anti, there’s one track that stands out right away. While most of the LP is an original effort, one of the songs is a cover of Tame Impala‘s “New Person, Same Old Mistake.” Originally featured as a song on Tame Impala’s most recent project Currents, “New Person, Same Old Mistake” was repurposed and reworked for Rihanna’s latest record. Now, Tame Impala have released an official statement on the matter. Released to NME, the statement reads pretty positively for both camps. Apparently, the band members are pretty big fans of Rihanna’s version of their track. Check out their words on the subject below.

“The Roc Nation team got in touch with us here at Spinning Top letting us know that Rihanna loved the Tame Impala track ‘New Person, Same Old Mistakes.’ They asked if she could cover the song for her new record. Kevin was more than happy to send it her way. We’re all really happy with how the song turned out, love it!”
