Rick Owens x Birkenstock Box Pop-Up Hosted in Shipping Containers
Owens reworked Birkenstock’s Arizona, Madrid and Boston models.
News of renegade fashion designer Rick Owens’ team-up with Birkenstock Box came entirely out of left field, as Owens had only announced one low-key collaboration since ending his partnership with adidas. Now, more information about the surprising pairing has been revealed.
Taking place inside stacked containers placed outside of Rick Owens‘ Los Angeles outpost, the Owens-designed interior will blend elements of the designer’s stores with Birkenstock‘s homey interior concept. Inside, guests will find Rick Owens clothing, furniture, accessories and of course, the Birkenstock collaboration. The joint effort will encompass Birkenstock’s Arizona, Madrid and Boston styles, all executed in unusual textiles like army felt and longhair cow fur and accompanied by two exclusive “legwear pieces” — think socks.
The collaborative sandals will be available for pre-order on March 1, with the public release slated for April, which includes e-commerce sites.
