Early last month, images of Nike’s Air Max 98 in the “Gundam” colorway surfaced, as the sportswear giant prepares to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the throwback silhouette. The uppers feature a multi-patterned, multi-textured construction — featuring a tricolored tonal palette of red, white and blue, while signature Air Max branding lands on the tongue and heel areas.

Sitting directly below is a full-length Air Max midsole and black outsole. Although the AM98 has played a backseat to several of its Air Max counterparts, it would be fair to assume that big plans are in order given its momentous 20th year in the game. The commemorative design will retail for $160 USD and will make its debut on January 18 at select Nike carriers.
