Fan-Made Super Mario Port Reimagines the Classic With 80 New Levels
More stages, more fun.
2017 was a year of reissues of classic games and consoles. Now it seems the same is shaping up for 2018, as enthusiasts have created 80-new levels inspired by the DS exclusive to produce Newer Super Mario Bros. DS.
Using the New Super Mario Bros. Editor as the skeleton, the update elaborates on the original Nintendo IP from 2006. This port allows gamers to play across eight world maps and 80-levels as either Mario or Luigi with rejuvenated physics, a new soundtrack and the return of “Hammer Mario”.
The port is made available via Newer Team’s website, but you’ll need a ROM of the original DS title and emulator to run. For more gaming news, the World Health Organization lists video game addiction as a mental disorder.
