Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk' Reimagined as Black & White Silent Film
Clocking in at 8 minutes.
YouTube account Like Stories of Old has reimagined last summer’s war epic Dunkirk by director Christopher Nolan as an eight-minute black & white silent film. What started as an essay exploring the director’s visual storytelling and silent film influences, turned into a highlight video of the entire two-plus film devoid of all its dialogue and exposition.
Flickering film reel effects, sped-up frames, and a militaristic score of the period pieces of olde were added to the footage for authenticity. It also maintains the films interwoven tale across the land, air, and sea, as Nolan intended to tell the story. Check out the footage above and share your thoughts in the comments below.
