Maison Margiela Unveils a Limited T-Shirt for Its Maxfield LA “Artisinal” Pop-Up

Inspired by selfie filters.

After announcing its upcoming “Artisinal” pop-up at Maxfield LA, Maison Margiela recently unveiled an accompanying selfie filter-inspired T-shirt. Exclusive to the pop-up, the limited edition T-shirt features an animated face motif which is informed by commonplace photo filters found on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat, as well as the more conceptual idea that “glamour requires an audience.”

The design of the shirt is a result of creative director John Galliano’s research into social media and interaction in the digital age, explored in Margiela’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection. Retailing at $300 USD, the limited edition T-Shirt will be available exclusively at the Maison Margiela x Maxfield LA “Artisinal” pop-up from now until September 21.
