New Balance‘s relationship with Scotland’s Hanon store goes back a long way, with the two first collaborating back in 2004. The latest link up sees Hanon take on the 520 silhouette from New Balance’s archive, a sneaker that first appeared in the 1970s. The kicks are inspired by Hanon’s home in North East Scotland with Aberdeen’s coastal location and fishing heritage being referenced in the tonal blue colorway. Other new additions include a dual branded leather footbed and a Hanon branded leather hang tag.

For the campaign, New Balance and Hanon enlisted legendary British photographer Ewen Spencer for a series of images that pay tribute to the sneaker’s nautical roots with images featuring a fishing crew on their actual boat on location in Peterhead, Scotland. The Hanon x New Balance U520HNF “Fisherman’s Blues” collaboration is set to drop on September 16 from the Scottish retailer’s web store. Each pair will come with three lace sets, a bespoke shoe box and a special edition cotton dust bag.

As well as unveiling its latest collaboration with Hanon, New Balance has also revealed the next sneaker in its long-term collaboration with Concepts.
