MoMA to Auction More Than 400 Photographs, Could Total More Than $3.6 Million USD
To take place at Christie’s.
It looks like the Museum of Modern Art will be doing quite a bit of house cleaning. As recently announced, the renowned art establishment will be selling around 400 photographs from its own collection. Experts are pricing the entire haul to go for about $3.6 million USD. Included in the lot are works by some of the world’s most renowned photographers — Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Steichen, Edward Weston, Man Ray, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Walker Evans.
Slated to take place at Christie’s for over a nine-month period, the auction’s proceeds will also go to the MoMA department’s acquisition fund. Some photographs could also be sold at around the $1,000 USD to $300,000 USD figure mark each. More information about the auction could be found at Christie’s.
