Fresh off dropping an $1,100 USD shopping bag, Demna Gvsalia‘s Balenciaga has today unveiled its new 2018 spring/summer collection at Paris Fashion Week Men’s. Having comprehensively “Felt the Bern” for its 2017 fall/winter collection, the French fashion house continues to embrace normcore vibes whilst pushing the aesthetic limits of the trend considerably further than on previous outings. Not to mention, Gvasalia placed real families on the Parisian runway. Several families took to the catwalk as a group with dads carrying their kids clad in vibrant wares and the popular speed trainers.
Heavy on both style and sartorial irony — standout looks juxtaposing dad jeans, multi-material patchwork pants and 1970s-style colorblock windbreakers with oversized tailoring, bold shirting and premium accessories — the collection acts as an expansive distillation of Balenciaga under the direction of the Vetements founder, and a fair indicator of its continued trajectory.
