Amazon Adds a Touchscreen to the Echo
Jeff Bezos and company introduce the Echo Show.
Hot on the heels of Harmon Kardon’s Invoke unveiling and persistent rumors of Apple’s own in-the-works AI-powered speaker, Amazon is staying one step ahead in the realm of smart speakers. After adding the Look to its Echo range, Jeff Bezos and company have introduced one with a touchscreen. Dubbed the Show, the latest Echo once again comes powered by Alexa, but ditches the cylindrical look of its predecessors in favor of a bulkier, rectangular design so as to accommodate the new camera and 7-inch screen. The result is an Echo with all the features fans know and love, but one that can now make internet-based voice and video calls, stream YouTube videos, offer visual weather updates, display shopping lists, and more.
The Echo Show launches June 28 and can be pre-ordered online now for $230 USD.
