Nike Receives First Denim Patent to Create "Jeans-Joggers" of the Future
The Swoosh wants to take athleisure to the next level.

Nike is providing a glimpse of future projects with its latest patent filing. Hinting at a focus on “jeans-jogger” blends, the sportswear giant has filed a patent for a new type of fabric known as “ath-denim.” The “high tenacity,” stretchable material is said to provide exceptional “moisture management” and contains “performance zones” and “shock absorption padding” in both the frontal and rear areas. “Ath-denim” is described as “architecturally reinforced denim,” alluding to an emphasis on function and durability.
Official pictures of the “ath-denim” material have yet to surface. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available. Earlier this week, Nike made waves with news of a new retail pricing strategy.
